Founder & local jungle guide
Rama was born and raised in Bukit Lawang, and the rainforest has been his backyard his whole life. He has guided travellers through Gunung Leuser National Park since 2017, and founded Escape To Sumatra to run treks the way he believes they should be run: locally guided, small, slow and honest, with no feeding of wildlife and no fake guarantees.
Every guide on the team is from Bukit Lawang or Batu Katak, and treks follow the pricing rules of HPI, the Indonesian guides' association.
